Cinerama / Wedding Present News
« on: September 07, 2004, 05:09:00 pm »
not sure if this has been posted already and its all a little confusing

Cinerama have broken up - Gedgie and Sally are no more

 but

the Wedding Present are reforming, or to be more accurate the remaining members of Cinerama will now be called The Wedding Present

Cinerama albums were starting to sound more and more like Wedding Present albums anyway

that could be cool if it means they start playing songs off of George Best live again

Oh hum.....

I think I have gotten quite fond of Cinerama, I hope they dont entirely return to the Wedding Present sound of yore. I have seen  Gedge in one incarnation or another 6 times. Not once can I remember a George Best song. Still they are the best to heckle with..... SHATNER!

I love Gedge, even though I lost interest in Cinerama after "Disco Volante."  "Torino" was such a let-down, with its over-production and its pseudo-"epic" songs.  How were the songs after that LP?

The Wedding Present re-forming doesn't bug me, as long as they don't make another "Saturnalia."  What a bore.

I'm being overly-critical because I'm ALLOWED to... The Wedding Present have always been one of my favorite bands since "Seamonsters" was released (I was too young to remember anything before that).  I doubt he'll touch "George Best," but you never know.  He always is talking about how much that album bugs him.  It's just the production that's fucked up.

Well Torino was the last album, personally I think it is his best work, along with George Best.

Bizarro is excellent, but Seamonsters is perfect.

The Tyde are OK; the single ("Go Ask Yr Dad") was great but the LP was kinda lacklustre in my opinion (as in the 2nd LP; haven't heard the 1st).  It just made me want to listen to The Byrds or The Beach Boys.

That question wasn't aimed at me I don't think, but tough shit, I answered it anyway.  And yes, I like current music.  Some of it.

No, it was aimed at you....

I liked the album, did you not think bloodbrothers was great?

I was really just setting you up to say they sounded like felt....

I never thought for a second they sounded like Felt... But boy do I LOVE Felt.

Bloodbrothers is great, yes, and the LP isn't HORRIBLE, just a tad bit disappointing after buying "Go Ask Yr Dad" as a single...

BTW, do you have any of the Felt re-issues?  They look and sound fantastic!
