Who is going to the show? Who went to the show? The new album comes out in October.  Discuss!

Okay, this was easily one of the worst concerts I've ever been to in my life.  When I saw the Distillers at Lollapalooza, I made excuses for their poor performance.  The venue was too big, they played too early on the lineup, blah blah blah.  Thought the CDs are great. So, tonight at the 9:30 Club, i have no excuses.  These guys extremely suck live. It was bad enough that fucking club was empty and the majority of idiots were little goddamn 15 year olds who don't even know the meaning of the word 'punk'.  Add that to a setlist that lasted only 45 freaking minutes. Like, what the hell. They have three albums worth of material and all their songs  sound the same.  How the hell can you only play 45 minutes?  I guess Brody realized all the children in the crowd and knew they had school in the morning.   Oh well.  Fuck The Distillers.

not that I really give a fuck about the Distillers, but I think they're big on the whole short set thing. I remember when they played Black Cat with the Necromantix, they played a short set and all the kids thought they were going to do an encore but no. So, short sets are a bitch, Darkest Hour is big on the 'we only play 6 songs at the show we headline type thing'.

I thought they played very good ay Lollapallozza (sp?) but last night they were ok. They weren't horrible but it looked like they weren't into it. The only person that looked like they gave a shit was Tony, the new guitarist. Not enough interaction with the crowd and the opening band, The Bronx basically sounded like a piss poor Black Flag cover band. The crowd did suck so they kinda ruined the mood for me. I have been a Distillers fan for about three years now. This is my first time seeing them at a club and I was very disappointed. *sheds a tear*

agree, re: not giving a fuck, but I'm not dead set against short sets...if the band is throwing absolutely everything they've got into it plus a kitchen sink or two, I won't object to a 45 minute set (see Black Eyes, Black Dice, Ex Models etc).  If I paid over 15 bucks, however, I might not be so friendly.

i am the 2nd in agreeance (haha) Re: hatred for distillers. sometimes a short set is nice, especially if all of the openers drag on. sometimes my attention span disappears after standing on my feet for more than a couple of hours. as long as the set is hot (as walkie said, see Black Eyes) i'm good to go. just don't drone on and on and bore me... unless i'm in the mood to be distracted for a long period of time.

I wouldn't have mind if they played an incredible 45 minute set. The shitty sound mix didn't help things either.   The volume for the guitars and drums were so freaking high that you couldn't hear a damn thing Brody was saying.
