so Smakie...are you a part of the suit that wants full purchase price instead of the 10bill settlement?
No, but I'll take it if it's offered from the Class Action. That other suit is going to drag on for years and I need to move on.
I argued in my letter to the judge that I'd like sale value on Sept 1 instead of trade in value, in addition to lost registration fees and sales tax. I would never trade in a car as it's only a win for the dealer - I've personally sold every car I've ever replaced. A personal sale is not possible now with this car, so it's unfair that my only option is a trade-in to the exact dealer who killed the sales market. Seems illogical to me.
The only advantage for the trade in value would be if they also gave me a sales tax break in my state for the trade in value. When you trade in a car, in some states you don't pay sales tax on the trade in value, but only on the difference between trade in and purchase price. That would save me about $2000.
I'm also negotiating a deal with the dealer who sold me the Audi, so the sooner we have a bench mark to start from the sooner we can come to a resolution.
