It's been a while since Smackie dropped some wisdom.  Here's one:

Don't run your 2016 Taxes through the Proposed new tax bill changes if you're a dual income, no kids household in a pricey neighborhood in a high tax state.  It will make you feel as if they were targeting you, which they were.

wireless charging
so that was the only con when it didn't have the wireless charging, a nice feature of the samsung galaxy series for me

So I bought this, and plug it in my phone for overnight charging.  The 2 XL battery is so good, that I only need to charge overnight and I set it on the wireless charger so I can grab it wire-free in the middle of the night.  It charges very slowly, but more than fast enough for overnight.

Choosing new headphones are driving me absolutely crazy right now.  Consuming way too much of my time...

To close this out, I ended up with these:

A little more expensive then I wanted, but Bluetooth, USB-C for audio/charging, and 3.5mm AUX with noise cancelling.  Perfect flexibility for future proofing...oh, and did I mention sexy as hell?

I, would say that in 10 or so years, their musical talents will know no bounds . . . but I wonder what the likelihood is, that they will just wind up in some horrible K-pop band.

sorry, relaxer.

Even if k-pop is the end result, it will still be far more useful then all the John Philip Sousa they teach in band in America...

I, enjoyed reading the story about how a large percentage of the gadgets and items from that show never even make it out to the public.

Oh, the vast majority never see retail shelves or online distribution.  But elements of the crap make their way to serious manufacturers.

Only one device (or set of devices, I should say) caught my eye this year, and that's the 8 inch touch screen devices with Google Assistant built in - perfect for the kitchen.

I would love that speaker as well, but sound quality trumps even the aesthetics of the pins.

I probably could have written this article for The Verge back in October:

Buying headphones in 2018 is going to be a fragmented mess

Oh, and Sony’s working hard on promoting a new 4.4mm Pentaconn connector as the next wired standard for dedicated audio lovers.

People love to complain about Apple's proprietary nonsense but Sony is historically the king of the game. Fuck that shit.

TAN: Anyone with any hands-on (or ears-on, I guess) experience with Sennheiser 700s? With the price dropping to around $400, it becomes pretty doable. Anyone prefer another headphone in the $400-500 range?

Yep.  And the one person with a Sony phone is REALLY upset.

They're fantastic if you still have a device with a 6.3mm jack.  I also like the Master & Dynamic MH40's in that price range, and the Grado RS2e.
