maria taylor roll call?
« on: November 03, 2007, 04:08:00 pm »
I haven't seen any shows at RnR outside of a DJed dance night.  But Maria Taylor + The Positions sound better to me than the Thermals at the Black Cat.  Has anybody seen Maria Taylor live?

How did it go? I've heard Maria Taylor is hit or miss--and often miss--live, especially when she's pissed off and indiscreetly telling the audience to shut it.

i didn't notice any antagonism between her and the audience, she seemed to be in a fine mood and she had quite a few fans.  i think she was playing with the drummer and the other guitarist for the first time on the tour.  i liked the recordings on her myspace profile, especially the electronica.  that finesse didn't get conveyed at RnR.  the acoustics in the RnR concert hall is bad, and my friend thought the sound engineering wasn't tuned well for her acoustic style.

I missed the first band but saw part of the Positions.  They had two horn players and seemed to play one long never ending song for their set.
