Not a big fan here, but went anyway. Good show, but nothing mind blowing.

Verizon Center's acoustics = sucks big time.
 Slighty better than DAR though

Unlikely that they'll be back to cities they've played: late summer they go on an extensive european tour through the holidays:

Hoping they do add a few more east coast dates tho.

Pittsburgh is always a great option for getting your fix.

the sound there is much much much better than other sized venues across the country.

San Jose is unbelievably crappy. Wachovia Center is only marginally better. Madison Square Garden can vary on show from ok, to very good.

That would explain The Evens reference re: Mount Pleasant.

well i haven't really listened to pearl jam since around the "vitalogy" days, but who am i to turn down a free ticket for a walk down memory lane? i wasn't blown away, but that has as much to do with the experience than the performance. i'm at the point where a sold out show at the 930 is too much of a big rock/impersonal experience for me, and i'm usually ready for a band to be done after 45 minutes, so being at verizon center w/20,000 people for a two and a half hour show was a bit much. i was really into it for the first seven songs. "release" is always a great opener, "corduroy" is my fave PJ tune, "do the evolution" is a solid rocker and "given to fly" always should have been a bigger hit.

then they started with the new stuff and lost me and never got me back. "even flow" was kinda formless, "rearviewmirror" is a great song but lost steam with that crap in the middle. "masters of war" was awesome, obviously, but that's some great source material. "fuckin' up" was fun.

when eddie said he was hanging out in mt. pleasant i was like, "and evens reference in 5, 4, 3 ..." and he came through. i definitely respect PJ and they are very good at what they do and they are everything that a big rock and roll band should be, it's just that when it comes down to it i don't really like big rock and roll bands.

Let's talk about the audience...

I hardly saw any women(!)...maybe 5,000, and maybe 15,000 white dudes (of all shapes and sizes)...

Since it was Memorial Day weekend, lots of families and their kids...a much older crowd.
Also saw younger couples. Ethnically diverse? No.

but its pearl jam people, what do you expect.

I'm just happy he didn't go blathering on and on with political BS.  Besides a pathetic joke about "Dick" Cheney and wanting the war to end by the summer, he was pretty quiet.  Refreshing!

I thought the no binoculars rule was very strange as well. I was lucky enough to go through an entrance where they let me in with the binoculars after some complaining on my part.

The show itself was great, this is fifth time seeing them.  I still think my all time favorite will always be the free show in Seattle at Magnuson Park in 1992. Hopefully they do play here again after the Europe tour.
