As much as I want to go to Noise Against tonight, I don't think I'll make it.

Well we got to Iota at 8:15, and were #163 and #164 in line. The place awas already well over half full. No way were we getting in.

 The only other time I've seen the line that long for Iota was Ryan Adams. My wife says the line for Jack Johnson wa that long.

I dont think it will be nearly as bad, the Decemberists have passed the peak of their buzz, and Ray LaWanttobeKebMo is just getting to his, and with a different crowd, think Ryan Adams and Jack Johnson

 I am sure it will sell out though

Only time I've seen it like that was for Glen Phillips a year ago. Once it's like that the buzz dies down the next time they appear there.

Seeing somewhere around 9 noise bands in one sitting proved to be an exhausting night.  Definitely had some high points, but a fair amount of low points as well.  Kudos to the organizers for limiting each bands set; I was afraid that this thing would get a little out of hand, but it was presented in a fairly digestable format.

 Regardless, Mirror/Dash and Corsano/Flaherty were both pretty amazing, and I really enjoyed 16 Bitch Pileup (what a bogus name) and Monotract.  Magik Markers were a slight letdown; I enjoyed them opening for Sonic Youth last time, but maybe the novelty wore off.  Still, you gotta applaud them for their getting up there and doing it.  I definitely could've lived without Double Leopard and Nautical Almanac, which was possibly the worst band I've ever seen. By the time TLASILA came on, I was just too exhausted to enjoy it.  Of course, these names are all guesses for the most part, since saying your band's name into a wickedly distorted mike doesn't help clarify anything.

 One other observation;

 Guys in noise bands = ugly.
 Girls in noise bands = Surprisingly cute.

I think Kim Gordon set the standard on this one.

Unless they are like Ryan Adams and get bigger in popularity or even bigger like Jack Johnson or Norah Jones and never return to Iota.
