back on the issue of mp3 players...
« on: November 23, 2004, 04:47:00 pm »
Sorry, y'all... had to post this, since months ago i was raving about my mp3 player.

So... my Creative Nomad Zen Xtra (30GB) is a piece of sh*te.  It's officially decided.

 Why?
OK, it's like 10 months old.  Something happens where the charger jack breaks out from whatever anchors it inside the unit.  The charger no longer works, and it uses this insane battery that's impossble to charge outside the unit.

PLUS, when I try to push the jack back into the unit, the damn screen display stops working.

Then, I check with their support people.  SORRY!  Support is only available during the warantee period.  Which is 3 whole months.  Lovely!

Now I have 20GB of music stuck in a player with no power and no power source.

I ordered some newfangled unapproved, hopeitdoesn'tfrythething USB charger in hopes that that will work, but my god.  This sucks.

unless you're getting ready to start a collection for that purpose, I don't see one of those in my future.

I did this...just waiting for the ipod to get shipped now. Since I already have a 10gb I'm waiting patiently.

Did you get an extended warranty from the store of  purchase? I have the Zen since June and so far, no problem. However, I am anticipating something will go wrong. I've heard too many bad things.
