Idlewild news
« on: November 29, 2004, 09:52:00 pm »
I know this was a topic a long time ago, but I don't feel like sifting through pages of posts.
I love the title of the new single. I will try to find out if the album will be released in the US around the same time.

From NME.com:

IDLEWILD have revealed how they scattered themselves across the globe to record their long-awaited new album.

??Warnings / Promises??, the follow-up to their top three breakthrough album ??The Remote Part??, is finally finished after a protracted birth that followed a turbulent period for the band. Following the departure of bassist Bob Fairfoull during the campaign for ??The Remote Part??, the band recruited new bassist Gavin Fox and a second guitarist in the shape of Allan Stewart.

Singer Roddy Woomble told NME.COM how the new line-up proved a catalyst for the band to stage a radical rethink. Although Woomble himself now lives in New York, the band spent six months at the end of 2003 writing in the Scottish Highlands.

He said. ??There??s a guy up there that rents his house out to us, its like a big old house in the middle of nowhere, we just go up there and take all our equipment and set it up and go and live there in an environment that??s strange and detached. The locals are friendly and it??s just fun.?

They then went to California to record the album with Tony Hoffer. ??It wasn??t some dream that we concocted up in the highlands,? said Woomble, ??Because the band was different and the songs were different we thought we should record it somewhere different. So we went over to California and just led this crazy life in the sunshine, drinking Mexican beer and swimming in pools, under the guise of purposeful work.?

??Warnings / Promises?? will be released on March 7 through Parlophone, with the single ??Love Steals Us From Loneliness?? preceding it on February 21. For more on Idlewild, see this week??s NME which is out now in London and nationwide from Wednesday (December 1).

The new Idlewild single was played on Lamacq last night. You can listen again  here for at least the next week. Jump ahead about 45 mins. to get to it. I like it a lot!  *sigh of relief at favorite band not letting me down*

With the exception of Winger, those are stage names, though. (Granted, Nikki did legally change his name to Nikki Sixx.)

Thanks, Kosmo! Again, I say... I love the song. Great lyrics as always.
I am going to see them in Manchester next weekend. I will let you know how the acoustic show is.
