Pete Doherty Causes Airplane Drug Hysteria Pete Doherty's druggie reputation - and not much else - caused an airline to hold a plane on the tarmac as authorities swept the plane for drugs.
EasyJet held 142 passengers on a London to Barcelona flight last night (June 1), after the pilot reported to authorities that a syringe had been found in the planeâ??s bathroom. After sweeping the plane, Spanish law enforcement told the press that it found no traces of drugs â?? not even the syringe that caused the uproar â?? on the flight.
Police reported that Doherty had taken too long in the bathroom while aboard the flight, making his behavior suspect and forcing a hysterical search of the plane.
Despite the lack of any evidence against them, Doherty and Babyshambles are permanently banned from flying on EasyJet. They, along with 135 other passengers, were released after the false-alarm search was concluded. The band will continue on its merry way to play the Primavera festival in Spain this weekend to support its debut, Down in Albion
