...that it isn't the 9:30 club. My vote goes to D.A.R. simply because this year it has been host to Primus, R.E.M., Morrissey, and Pixies. Your choices?

Unfortunately you must have lost 15 years of your life. This is the year 2004. All of those acts are now well passed their sell by date. Sorry.

By venue of the year, are you talking about the acts that play there, or the general feel/atmosphere of the venue itself?

Don't feel bad palahniukkubrick, I either went to, or am going, to every one of those.

Cannot say I have really listened to much over the airwaves american radio, but when I do it is riddled with old hits or RnB.

I suspect the true HFSer likes listening to The same old overplayed U2, Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins tracks which were such staples of the more than 10 years ago.

 Thing again.

Yeah what bellenseb asked.
If it's the acts that played there..um, yeah, DAR still would not win my vote.

Well, I have to vote for 9:30, as I love the venue's sound, size, vibe, etc, and I've been to 20 shows there in 2004, compared to 14 at Black Cat, 4 at Iota, 3 at MCI Center, 2 each at Warehouse, DC9, Warner, DAR, and the rest have been outta town. Wow, I haven't been to Velvet Lounge all year....scary.

I really like the concert space at DC9 and was hoping it would become something like a friendlier version of the old Metro Cafe, but so far they haven't booked many national acts (only one I can think of is the Ladybug Transistor/Essex Green show). Hopefully they'll get more.

And are they friendlier?  ;)
