the wedding present, anyone?
« on: March 03, 2006, 01:23:00 pm »
who else will be at the  best show in town on sunday nite? non-smoking, to boot! only a couple of repeats from last year's setlist, so it should be great in a whole new way.

no.

but it would generally sway my decision. same as seated vs. standing venues, ticket prices and city.

different setlist? i really want to go but the rest of my band is playing the same fucking time at the warehouse. i'd feel like a dick if i missed them for the wedding present.

i'll try to make it, but it doesn't look good. maybe i can get in for the last half or something.

Unclear.

I want to see the sisters of mercy and we have tickets for B&S for Monday. I doubt I can do 3 nights in a row..... But I am pretty sure the wedding present will be the best show of the three.

tickets are in hand...

I've only got their latest album, but I like it.  I also heard a few Sally Crewe tracks I liked on WOXY  so I have high hopes there as well.

The Weddoes are always a must see.  I'll be there rockin out fan boy style. I am concerned though about a pretty thin crowd - going against the Oscars and New Pornos/B&S. I think the boy Gedge deserves a full house.

this was a really great show, obviously. hard to pick out anything bad about it. great sound, which is never a given at the black cat. great performance, nothing over-the-top, but still very passionate and into it. a small-ish but very enthusiastic crowd, didn't have to deal with a crush of people or any casual fans/incessant talkers. great song choices (opening with "corduroy" was fantastic, "suck" was great, "brassneck" really brought it, "click click," "nobody's twisting your arm," i could go on). hilarious banter (gedge has really got that ricky gervais british wit going on). my favorite bartender was looking extremely foxy down in the red room. just a great nite all around. hopefully they'll come back once every year playing 20 different ones. lord knows they have the catalog to support it.

Good show, my ears are still ringing...

Sally Crewe and the Sudden Moves were ok.  Not bad, but not very remarkable.

I know WP have a lot of material but I was surprised that only 3 tracks off the new album made it into the set.  The older stuff was great, though I was hoping to hear Interstate 5 from Take Fountain.

 I loved this quote:
"This next song is either a metaphor about life or it's about sex.  Don't ask me, I'm just a conduit.  It's called 'Suck'."

extremely bummed i missed this...couldn't bail out on the rest of my band playing at the warehouse at 11, so i opted not to even try to see the weddoes.

hopefully, they will be touring consistently from now on. the may show is still fresh in my head.

Great, great show.  I love this band.  Brassneck was insane.
