Almost went to Fogo today for lunch, but I was catching up with someone I haven't seen in years and the Post review convinced me it may be too loud and boisterous for a catch-up lunch.

A couple places I've been recently:

Rasika -- swanky Indian in Penn Quarter by Bombay Club owner, great vibe and food.  Pat Sajak sat at the table next to mine.

Viridian -- limited menu, pretty good, very good ambiance, near my house in Logan Circle (key)

did Fogo just open? I would have been all over that if I had known while I lived in DC.

The best Churrascaria I have been to in the US is http://churrascariaplataforma.com/ in New York

Went to Fogo de Chao a few weeks ago. I loved it, but you have to be OK with the concept of meat gorging. The salad bar is nice, but it wouldn't satisfy a discerning vegetarian. Also, it's more than a little cheesy, with waitstaff kind of in costume, and a little coaster to flip over when you want the meat parade to stop by your table.

It's not intimate and quiet (it's big), but I didn't find it overly loud.

I ate at  Q  in the Richmond last night.  Had some tater tots and mac and cheese that were to die for!

I took my girlfriend there for Valentine's Day.  We liked it, however I think others on this board don't.

I like this restaurant a lot. I went a couple weeks ago with a friend. The sweet potato appetizer rocks!

I went to Hollywood East in Wheaton for the first time on Sunday for dim sum. Hope to get back there before I leave. Very yummy dishes. Loved the pork buns, Chinese broccoli, steamed shrimp dumplings and the fried crab balls.

i've worked there for years, and i have to contest your statement! olazzo, blacks (they make the BEST softshell crab sandwich), new orleans cafe, jaleo, and raku are good, not great, but reliably good. most everything else is forgettable. that said, the new david craig looks promising, but me thinks i'll need to wait for a big paycheck before i can afford to go there!

as for my own personal faves:

 mandalay(kosmo is a fan)
 zaytinya
 jaleo
 oyamel
 teaism
 tosca
 corduroy
 notti bianchi
matchbox (but for miniburgers and a stout only)

i've heard nothing but raves from my friends who have gone to rasika. indebleu is nice, but i come out of there a $100 lighter, damn that place is expensive.

is everybody on this site a broke ass unfortunate, with black hole jobs that allow not even a chance to expand one's mind to the finer things in life, and no concept that indie record store lifestyles with cardigan sweaters and converse hightops should be left for rock stars that shoot themselves in the face?  perhaps a change of magnitude is in order.  go write a book; put out a shitty book of dharma poetry and call it art.  one hundred dollars for dinner is expensive?  since when?  drinks at the bar for one hundred dollars is expensive, but not unheard of.  life is not a bowl of ben's chili bowl dog food.  take off the spikes and realize.

If I'm going to spend money on great restaurant, I'll head to Komi (love it!) before a place like Olives.
