Personally, I would vote for John Squire of the Stone Roses for "I am the Resurrection".  That song really shreds...easily one of my favorite guitar solos of all time. I was lucky enough to see a great rendition live at the old WUST Radio Music Hall.

While I don't despise guitar solos, I'd be hard pressed to think of 5 that are so memorable to me that I'd put them on a "greatest of all time" list.  Any 'solo' by Gregg Ginn gets my vote i guess.

So is Bob Mould...I can think of a TON of his solos that will peel paint off the walls: "I Will Never Forget You", "Celebrated Summer", "Hanging Tree", "Tilted", "Everything Falls Apart" all come to mind...it goes on and on.  His guitarwork is really something.  On another plane, I sure like some of the songs Johnny Thunders did too. "Chatterbox" is totally underrated!  And from that era, James Williamson-era Stooges is insane...the whole Raw Power LP is aces.
