Somebody in this area needs to book Vampire Weekend.  They are the next Bloc Party, Clap Your Hands, Arcade Fire, etc...  Their first album (set for release in 1-2008) is great and has been getting mad love from the blognoscenti for months now.

Or Peter Gabriel, take your pick.  Either way, I think the demos are easily one of the top five albums I've heard this year.

I actually like that song "Mad Season."  Good, catchy tune.  Of course, Blender did "Dear Superstar" with Rob Thomas a couple of years ago and someone asked him what the worst song he ever wrote is and he said "Mad Season.  I don't understand how anybody likes that song."

I also like that "Bright Lights" song.  Best single Elton John never released.

They played the red and the black over the summer--excellent show with the hymns.  The turnout for the show was great, so expect them back either there or the hotel. Good music and really nice guys as well

Vampire Weekend has the Sound Opinion geeks all up in a pantie twister. It's good, some of it is very good, but I feel like this could be another Voxtrot or Clap Your Hands situation where the pre-release hype becomes so deafening that the eventual release is bound to be disappointing.

I listened to their whole album, and it seemed pretty lame to me. My wife likes what she heard of it. Not that our opinions matter nearly as much as the Sound Opinion geeks.
