Full band, but first Mark and Gorden came out, opened with "Japanese to English" (just the 2 of them) and then they played a few songs. Mark was really irritated and kept snapping at Gorden, telling him to play slower. Then the band came out (Jerry and Anthony) and did "Katy Song", which was just phenomenal. "Dragonflies" and "Mother" in particular left me speechless. What I couldn't get over was how much they rocked. Anthony's drumming was so powerful, but Mark's voice was so damn penetrating. For the encore, he came out by himself and did "Mistress", "Grace Cathedral Park" and one other song acoustic. I have the setlist at home. I wish I could find a bootleg from that era.

Kozelek NEVER plays the DC metro area. It's always Baltimore, and last time, Annapolis. The last time he was around DC was in 2001 for the RHP Old Ramon tour at the Black Cat.

Did he piss someone off here?

i think iota would be a perfect venue for a kozelek show..even though it would most likely sell out quickly.  the annapolis show was great..even though i was scared to death to even whisper.

HA! Someone told me a funny story about how he was in NYC playing a show and he asked the crowd "How many people are going to the Philly show tomorrow night?" and there was a smattering of applause. He shot back "well, don't bother to show up, 'cuz I won't be there." I've met him a couple of times. He's definitely got some issues, but he's not as bad as people say. Last time I saw him was at Fletcher's in 1998. Can't believe it's nearly been 10 years.

He's not:

a.)  Married to Dita Von Teese.

 or

 b.)  Popular anymore.

 is he?

 Why bother?

other than late 1990s teenagers trying to shock their parents, why was he even popular anyway?
