With The Walkmen and White Rabbits opening, no less.  I think I'll make a Saturday trip down to Norfolk for this.

 5/9 - Black Cat

No clue who this is, to be honest, but Pitchfork is making a semi-big deal about it.

w00t.  unfortunately it's on a saturday, which limits the chances i can make it.  where did you get the info?  i'd like to check for other east coast dates.  pollstar lists "Tue 06/03/08   Brooklyn, NY  Music Hall Of Williamsburg" but there must be others.

and in case folks missed it in the other thread:

Radiohead to play two nights at the All Points West festival, Jersey City, Aug 8-10.   http://www.apwfestival.com

I'd love to support VFest, but they have to pull a giant rabbit out of their hat to overcome 2 nights of Radiohead.

First Wave of MACRoCk bands have been announced since their hiatus last year.

In case you don't know this is a non-profit little festival put on by JMU students and other local kids in Harrisonburg, Va. It typically costs like $30 for the two days - this year April 4, 5 - and is in little venues all over town.

EDIT: This year, it costs $18 for the weekend. $15 in advance.

 Owen
 Aloha
 Anathallo
 Unwed Sailor
 Shapiro
 The Forms
 Brooke Waggoner
 Ryan Lindsey
 Memorial
 Antlers

Expect a shit-ton more (hopefully better) bands to add themselves to the lineup in the next week.

As a reference point, I've seen the following bands over the course of the three MACRoCKs I've been to: Wesley Willis, Q and not U, Rocking Horse Winner, Matt Pond PA, D Plan, Fugazi, Mates of State, Pedro the Lion, mewithoutyou, an albatross, Converge, Darkest Hour, etc etc etc.
nothx

Wouldn't it be great if the bookers at State Theater know how to book good bands?

22 bucks for this? seems a little much.

Why? I probably won't be going, but that seems reasonable. Sure, the State Theater is a dump, but at least it has seats.  It's a good established act with a good opener, what would you expect to pay?

I saw Gary Louris do a solo show (actually he was accompanied by Kraig Jarrett Johnson) in Madrid a couple of years ago. Rather tasty it was. I'm guessing it costed around $22.
