Coming to you all the way from North Carolina, this month's special guest is Mr. Carolina Funk himself, Jason Perlmutter !

Born and raised in Raleigh, NC, Jason began his musical career as Station Manager and DJ at WXYC FM in Chapel Hill. It was there that he developed a special interest in soul music, with an emphasis on local groups. Jason spent much of his time and energy tracking down Carolina groups, (documented in loving detail on his ambitious website: carolinasoul.org), and playing their records on both the radio station and at club nights. His DJ resume boasts such prestigious milestones as Bumpshop (APT in NYC), and DJing with J.Rocc at the Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte, NC. Since 2007, Jason has acted as Project Coordinator for 7 re-issue singles on Kay-Dee, Funk 45 and Soul-Cal. He was also the main force behind the widely successful Carolina Funk Compilation, released on Jazzman & Now-Again in 2007. Recently, Jason partnered up to form NC based Record label: Paradise of Bachelors (paradiseofbachelors.wordpress.com), check the website for updates on releases, cool pics, and interesting facts!
