Never heard of them.

From Amazon:
In May 2009, three fresh-faced teenagers, Piero Barone (17), Ignazio Boschetto (16), and Gianluca Ginoble (16), appeared on the popular Italian talent show ?Ti Lascio Una Canzone? and dazzled television viewers with their flawless rendition of the Neapolitan standard ?O Sole Mio.? The boys, who won the competition easily, decided their group needed a name. ?Il Volo,? meaning ?flight,? was chosen to signify the feeling that these three young tenors were about to spread their wings and fly.

not that long ago . . . i think it was when the released the astronaut album, they played warner theatre.  tickets were going for as much a $600 on ebay.  i literally saw grown woman throw their panties on stage.  and when they busted out wild boys . . . the place went fucking nuts.  i don't see a dar show being as epic.

Well, it's not the original line-up anymore.  But if they promise to do "Rio" in its entirety or re-create the "Girls on Film" video (Kanye West-style), all bets are off.

the Warner show was the one for this band.. all five guys..

they then played Merriwether a few years ago

now DAR with 4/5.. to say its not the original lineup seems insane to me.. its pretty darn close.

Is R.E.M the same without Bill Berry?

Was Guns N Roses the same without Steven Adler? (if you only know Steven Adler from "Celebrity Rehab", you'd probably think: "The band HAD to get better when he left.")

The guitarist of Duran Duran is maybe the least important member in the band. If you bother to watch the live DVDs/ or attended the Astronaut tour or the one that followed you'll notice the guitarist is sitting there doing nothing most of the time. He does not fit in with the band. Of course one would rather he was with them but if he's not I still think its tough to argue that its not Duran Duran much less prove it.

"Duran Duran without Andy Taylor is like Anal Sex without lube"

- the message that Duran Duran's webmistress replaced the front page of duranduran.com with when she quit.
