"Curated by The Flying Eyes
the way the word "curated" is bandied about for this festivals is retarded... what does it mean?? their agent picked a few bands???
In this case, they really do pick the bands and all, or most, of the other work. From my observation, their drummer Eli, does most of it as you will witness during the event; though it's quite possible that the rest of the band is involved but not as visibly so.
It's a nice event. Not too over-crowded or massive if you are like me and not much on crowds and/or festivals. I was at the 2010 FarmFest too (and Killsaly, a very cool guy) hung out together for a bit.
If it's like last time, you can take a tent, food and your own alcohol (age appropriate, of course). A few things will be sold but not a whole lot, so it's best to take along a few things that you desire. Would suggest some extra toilet paper and paper towels and such too. Would be a good idea to include a flashlight for night time port-o-pottie use. Oddly, I found several discarded glowsticks scattered around that helped light up the space just enough to see what I was doing.
Do be aware that, being on a farm, it will get chilly in the evening, so take some extra layers of clothing. The parking lot isn't that far away from the action so it's easy to go back and forth as needed. Also, at some point in the wee hours (maybe about 2AM), they will lock down the place which means that no one will be able to leave. Suspect it might be some sort of stipulation with their permit to help prevent too much traffic out in the sticks and to cut back on drunken driving. It will be well announced beforehand. They will open the gates again at about 6AM.
Even though I tend to not like camping, crowds and port-o-potties, I felt rather comfortable all around and really enjoyed myself. Wish that I could go this year but it's a time when I just can't take any time off from work. Party out for me, Killsaly.
