expecting people to always spell Pittsburg correctly is right up there with expecting everyone to know how to spell Mitylene (AB) or Ypsilanti (MI) (or worse yet, to care about any of these cities...)

There's Pittsburg State in Kansas and the University of Pittsburgh. If you graduated from Pitt and you can't fucking spell Pittsburgh properly 100% of the time, you deserve to have your degree taken away and have your ass kicked for good measure.

A mere ass kicking? That is not enough! I think people who can't spell Pittsburg should be gang raped. For crying out loud spell check will automatically pick it up!

oh really?!  hot.  hey hutch . . . care to go to pitsberg with me?

Is the power going to go out again?

That 2009 Moby inauguration party was the latest I ever left the club. It was after 5 AM.

from the 6th & I e-mail blast:

An Evening with The Residents
Sunday, February 10 at 8:00 pm
Holding up the underground since 1972, the experimental music icons celebrate four decades of unbridled creativity with "The Wonder of Weird," their 40th anniversary tour. The band?s groundbreaking work in the areas of trance, world, electronica, and punk music has also taken them into the world of film and TV.

Neither did Kraftwerk. Of those that did, Rush is the least worthy.

Rush is probably my least favorite band of all time.  Why dont' bands like the Cure and Depeche Mode get in?

What is your criteria? Of those that got in, it appears that Rush and Heart are the only ones that actually play rock and roll.

Innovation and lasting influence. Rush's influence is mostly selling lots of drums. Sure, they're very popular but I don't get any sense of their musical DNA in anything. Kraftwerk certainly hasn't sold as many records or tickets but their innovation and influence is staggeringly massive.

As for Heart, they paved the way for women in hard rock. No small feat.

Donna Summer's song "I Feel Love" could be considered the dividing line between the analog and digital eras of popular music (and the HOF is really about popular music, not just white boys and their guitars). While that song alone wouldn't get her in, it's absolutely the deciding factor.
