The line was way down the block when Ryan Adams played there (I didn't get in). Same for Norah Jones, I heard. (didn't go, though did see her free Millenium Stage appearance).

Jack Johnson, John Mayer ,and Jason Mraz have all also played there.

Howe Gelb (Giant Sand)
Iota
Sometime in December (it's in the source code of their page but not displayed with a date)

I feel like Iota used to get this sort of show a lot more often, now it's like once a year.

Iota has really gone down the drain.. I'm predicting they close or get out of the live music biz... they hardly get squat these days..

Have they ever got squat there?  I wish I frequented Iota more over the years, but for the past 11 years there hasn't been much in general that I'd want to see. I'd love to own that place.

At least your examples were all shows that happened over a decade ago.

Yet they've managed to stay in business for a decade since those examples. So why would they suddenly close up shop now?

I don't think they're closing, that's your friend hutch. I love Iota, I just don't go too often.

I feel like Iota used to get a lot of smaller indie shows that have been siphoned off by Sixth & I, DC9, RNR Hotel. For instance, the DC9 Hayden show coming up probably woulda been at Iota back in the day. I guess their glory days were between the closing of Metro Cafe and the opening of all these other venues - like 2001 to 2005 or so. It's too bad, because I like the low-key vibe there.

Funny I caught Hayden at the Metro Café not at Iota.
only saw 1 or two good shows at metro

Most of the great shows I saw at Iota were a decade ago
Asylum street spankers (x3), Joe Pernice, The Gourds (x2), Freakwater.
I'm sure there were others as I feel like I went there a lot

They really had the pulse on the Alt Country stuff that wasn't big enough to play 930/BC

They actually seemed to get better acts when it was just the smaller venue, then they bought the space that used to be Strangeways (loved that bar, I remember drinking canned Schlitz and digging on the jukebox)
and then tried to make it all swanky with expensive food.  Guess the saw the writing on the wall in Claredon and move from dive to upscale was the only way to go.

oh no.. I think their glory days were more like the late 90s.. at least with so called alternative country they were the place.
