Some more info... I realized after posting this that it's the same night as Gang of Four. It looks like this will be an early show (6:30 doors) and Gang of Four will be a late show. Too bad. Dresden Dolls would have been a great opener if they were on the same bill.

Yea, they have big mouths and egos, but they bring it.  I would LOVE to see them again, but I don't think I can deal with a Sum41, Underoath, Unwritten Law crowd.

 Damn.  Maybe they'll do some other dates around this one.

WED APR 27- Q AND NOT U, FRENCH KICKS, THE THREADS $10 mainstage 8:30

 So this is French Kicks from New York, who just played a couple Saturdays ago?  That'd be cool, I missed 'em the first time.

 Yeah, the mercury loungs is tiny. It should be a great show. You should get tickets promptly.

The French Kicks were horrible both of the times I've seen them play (in my humble opinion).

SUN MAY 1- THE WEDDING PRESENT, CRYSTAL SKULLS, THE JET AGE (ex-Hurricane Lamps) **this show is non-smoking** $15 mainstage 8:30

 Interesting...non-smoking show.  That's kind of great, really.

 So, is this a show I shouldn't miss?  {I don't know the Wedding Present, really, but note that they are listed as an influence about as often as Big Star or Gang of Four these days...}

I agree, and I often wonder why they are even a band. They suck. So why are they in town once every 45 days?

Hmmm, interesting.  You tend to judge shows well -- not that I can tell if you're enjoying a show in the *middle* of it; that's what the board is for, to find out what ggw thought.

 What made them bad, just wondering (FYI, I don't have any albums, so I planned to see them in order to check them out...)

They just made noise.  They were all playing their instruments, but it was difficult to tell if they were all playing the same song at the same time.

 And the lead singer thinks he's Bono or something.  He deserves a swift cockpunch.

Yeah, Bono is a bastard. I'd love to kick him in the crotch.

the first time i saw them i thought the same thing, but there was something interesting about them.  while it was hard to tell if they were all on the same page, there was this driving rhythm and interchange with the vocals that made me pick up "one time bells", and as i listened to it more it really grew on me.  Unfortunately, the new one, "trial of the century", doesn't have the same effect, for whatever reason.
