this is one of those guys everyone raves and goes gaga over... but i've never been able to get into his music even though i probably should.. everyone from springsteen on just loves him.. i think he or his brother actually played in a seminal latino punk band from LA with El Vez in the late 70s scene...

everytime i listen to his music it just leaves me cold and i'm like "what am i missing".. kind of like dave alvin.... some of these roots rockers bore me to tears...

I once saw him play DCCD in Adams Morgan for free. With a friend and two store workers. And that was it. Nobody else showed up. Wanted to like him but he was ho hum. I'd still take him over Fat Chris Stapleton.

And his niece Shelia E was always a hottie.

I wish I had seen the Zeros when they played Velvet Lounge.. always regret that.. even as an El Vez fan I just never knew the show was happening...Javier's brother was in the band.. with El Vez..
