I played "Last Cigarette" or "Wonderamaland" on my radio show nearly every week when that album first came out...  Aaah, 1989!   ;)

Did you see that CMJ is later this year ? Helps out a bit for show planning (and not so immediately after ACL).

Cedars (& Lake Trout) are apparently now opening for Editors on July 27th.  Fico, why were you holding out on us?  Not posted on the 930 site yet either.

100 tickets just released, since they moved the show from the club stage to the main. I hate when they do that. I'd be pretty pissed if I bought a ticket for this, expecting to see him on the club stage.

This better not happen for the Jason Lytle show (though that seems highly unlikely).

You might be interested to know that Pete is doing an instore at the Dulaney Valley Record & Tape Traders this evening at 6:00PM. Supposedly, he's recording a live EP in the store. Better hurry your ass up if you plan on going though.

...and the latest on the Popnoise Festival.

(Bare with me, I'm going from memory on some of this and a really old line up that may have changed since.)

 When: Saturday September 16th, 2006
 Location: The Rotunda
 4014 Walnut St
 Philadelphia, PA 19104
in the heart of University City

Music|For.Headphones (former founder of The Upsidedown)
House On Fire (w/ EJ from Highspire)
 The Vera Violets
 DestroyAllDreamers
 Stellarscope
 Asteroid #4
 The December Sound
Star (Scott Cortez of Loveliescrushing & Astrobite's new band)
Apollo Heights (ex the veldt... an all black/african american shoegaze band)
 Lake Trout (psychedelic post rock)
Jealousy Curve (post rock ala radiohead the bend years)
Astrid Proll (like mogwai from PR)

This is the one that my teeth are wearing out chomping at the bits for! DestroyAllDreamers were just confirmed the other day and I almost peed myself in excitement! I've been absolutely dying to see them and they never get that far from Montreal which is where they are from. For fans of Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, MONO (Japan), God Is An Astronaut, Hollowphonic, M83, Port-Royal and the like. The drummer is an aquaintance of mine and by far one of the very best drummers that I've heard in ages. Not what you would expect from most blissful Shoegazish bands. He reminds me a lot of Lee Harris on the latest Bark Psychosis release. You probably know Lee better as being the drummer for Talk Talk. They have very similar styles with a bit of a Jazz influence.

Actually, this particular festival is fully packed with some damn good bands that I'm very excited about seeing/hearing.

Oh...and if I haven't peed myself yet, I just got word that for one of the festivals, Fleeting Joys might come in from Sacrameto, Calif.. That's still a big maybe though.

Someone get me the smelling salts!

And I think Dan and Heather from Clairecords/Tonevendor may still be at both festivals, thanks to my suggestion to Dan.            :D

i went to his short performance at record & tape traders this evening, and he said something about it being so hot in the smaller room that they had to move the show.  but you'd think they would have fixed any of the club stage's ventilation problems before today, so who knows, maybe there was another reason.

I meant to tell you lot about it but we just got confirmation of it early on the week and we've been in the studio finishing the mixing of the new record which is sounding great... this went out to our mailing list early in the week:

 CEDARS NEWS JULY 2006

So we just found out that our next show will be a great one.  We've been added as support for Editors and Lake Trout at the 930 Club on Thursday, July 27.  Naturally, we couldn't be more honored to play with two great bands such as these and hope that everyone comes out to have a listen and a drink.  We'll be debuting some of our newest material, which for us, is  exciting as hell.

 EP UPDATE

Mixing started last night and everything is sounding great.  We had a 30 minute debate about whether or not one tambourine part was too high in the mix.  But, those are the usual goings around here nowadays.  Also, we've just about settled on artwork and a tracklisting, which should include some seven songs and multiple winged animals.  So, for the rest of the week, we'll be working with the folks at Silver Sonya to pull together final mixes and get the product ready for mastering.  As it stands now, we'll have the final music around July 23rd and will be selling authentic, hand replicated, hand-numbered copies at the Editors show.  Once the disc is pressed, it will be up for sale on the site and at our shows.

So, that is about all for now, everything is moving along in the Cedars camp.....and we're about to hit another season of warmth....

 Cheers
 Cedars

Because the club stage is much smaller and way more intimate than the main stage. Sonar's club stage is one of my favorite places to see a show, so I wouldn't be too happy if a show I was expecting to see there got moved to the main stage. Not that I was planning on seeing Pete Yorn, but it happened before at a different Sonar show I went to.

I haven't been, so I can't attest. But is the main stage that much bigger that it lacks intimacy? Bigger than 9:30?
(Not trying to be difficult.   :D  )
