Wasn't this at 9:30 Club, with Interpol opening?

It was definitely the Black Cat where I saw them, and it was only about three or four years ago.

I was going to write that maybe they played the 9:30 Club, but that I doubted it, and I couldn't imagine Interpol opening, since I figured the 'Pol had been headlining ever since their first album. But whattyaknow! I googled it, and you're right. In 2002, Clinic headlined, with Interpol and Q Not U supporting. Good call.

Yeah, that was a great triple-bill.  It was like a week or two after Interpol's first ep came out, the one with the original - and superior - version of PDA on it.

Clinic was better that night than they were at the Black Cat the following year.

i remember that show, too. that was probably the best time i saw interpol. there might have been 200 people there, it definitely was nowhere near packed. clinic were solid. i think they usually play 30-35-minute sets, btw.

I've seen then a bunch of times, and I've never been disappointed.  Of course, this will be the first tour that they've been a three-piece, so I'm not sure how that will affect it, but I'm planning on hitting both the Ottobar and Black Cat shows.

If nothing else, go to watch Greg Saunier's drumming.  He's off the charts.
