rhett - thanks for your concern for my rocking outness, much appreciated.  i'm sure you've figured out by now that my taste are a tad more mainstream than yours, so while not my dream line-up i could see myself enjoying the foos, snoop and lenny among others.  remember, this is supposed to be a global affair so not all those acts will be performing here in DC.  you can imagine my forthcoming sadness when they announce that Pharrell, Bon Jovi, Black Eyed Peas, Akon, Enrique Iglesias, Fall Out Boy, Kelly Clarkson, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw won't be playing DC.  no, really.

and above all, the gore thing will be free.  might be all it's worth, but beats paying $12 to hear yet another bunch of run-of-the-mill "indie" punkers with attitude™...

some help!  :D  i was wondering if you lovely wonderful people would mind telling me how long, roughly, it took the Arctic Monkeys show to sell out last year? I'm looking forward to seeing them and getting tickets, but as i recollect last time it sold out considerably quick, but is it gonna be like Incubus or something not so extreme but something along those lines? All i know is that since their last show at 930 the buzz around them has only gotten louder. so i just wanna be prepared. i' not driving down to Norfolk to see them again....

Both sound equally uninspiring. I especially don't want to be on the Mall with 100,000 other environmentalists who no doubt will leave garbage littered all over the place.

I think I'll be home with my 2-3 week old child trying to instill some good music taste in her/him.    :D

dont bother explaining this to Rhett, sweetie.  Rhett is just upset that he can no longer enjoy himself unless he is in a tightly specified environment.

that said, i'll probably be watching the show live via my dsl connection!

Last night, Al Goreâ??s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.

Goreâ??s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWhâ??more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWhâ??guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year.

I don't recall seeing the Ben Gibbard show in the Volume. Nonetheless, the date is: May 10 w/ David Bazan and Jonathan Rice. Someone quoted $20 but I paid $25 + $5 via fan club. Not sure when the tickets go on sale at the club.

But this is the Tragically Hip show right, so they're just going to play a short opening set I assume.
