"We Fought the Big One" Post-Punk Party at Mar
« on: March 02, 2005, 05:25:00 pm »
Hey there,

Just wanted to give a "shout out" to all the post-punk/indie fans out there about this Friday. "We Fought the Big One" is a monthly indie music event where my friend and I spin a lot of our older, more obscure post-punk records right alongside a healthy dose of choice new material.  We have a mix cd that we're giving away this month which consists of many tracks that so far have only been available on vinyl.  There's no cover charge, so if you're looking for a fun, inexpensive place to hang out with friends Friday night, I humbly suggest heading over to Marx.

 Here's more details:
 "We Fought the Big One"
 at Marx Cafe
 3203 Mt. Pleasant St. NW
 Washington DC
 10pm - 3am
 NO COVER  21+

I'll bet your mother is so thrilled that her little Backstreet Boy fan has become all grown up.

The track in question was "Dyslexia"---that was a tough one to find.

Jag, I'm curious how many of the tracks on that cd comp we're giving away you already have. Assuming there is some stuff on there you're not aware of yet, I think you'd be into it.  I'll save you a disc and the next time I know you'll be at a show in DC, I'll bring it with me...

So far, I only have two of them, Pia Fraus' ?? "Tähetorn" and Blind Mr. Jones' - "Dolores", both which are very good.

That would be great if I could get one of your mixed CDs! Thanks so much for the offer. So far, I'm probably going to be at the Mono show at The Warehouse and will definitely be at the Ulrich Schnauss/M83 show at the Black Cat. Probably A Northern Chorus at Iota too. Others are all up in the air. Way too many other demanding obligations to attend any of the shows end of March. (It's pissing me off too.) Like I said, I need to get a life again! Feel free to PM me anytime to ask about any other shows.
