New Orleans is a festering cesspool of crime......not unusual getting shot there.....but on the other had......a great place to get shitfaced drunk and roam the streets......shoulda let the guy take the purse and called it a night.....

ya, one of my abiding regrets was not making it there until I was with my then-pregnant wife and my folks - I walked around the place wondering if I'd have made it out alive if I'd gone there a couple of years earlier

Is it because you all don't expect to get shot at?

Excellent question...most probably, although from keeping up with the news from home that may change. It's getting bad over there now with guns and crap.

That's the kind of crap that closed The Haçienda.

On another note, I'd be fat as shit if I lived in New Orleans! They couldn't make bad food if they tried all day and night.

Probably. I'm sure they have McDonald's too. But those chains don't count. In fact, I bet they have better food than the others around the world. However, if you're in NO, why the heck would anyone bother with that garbage when you have real quality at every turn?

Oh yeah, speaking of which...I bet even their road kill is good eating.     :p    ....and those Cajun Bayou folk love their road kill.

Update from the Associated Press:

Police said Davies, 59, and the woman were walking near the edge of
the French Quarter at 8:30 p.m. Sunday when a passing car stopped
and a gunman jumped out and demanded the purse.

The woman handed it to him, and the thief ran back to the car. When
Davies ran after him, the thief shot Davies in the leg, said Capt.
Marlon Defillo, a police spokesman. The woman was not hurt.

Davies was treated and released at a hospital, Defillo said.

Police said Davies got the license number of the car, which officers
were able to trace. They arrested Jerome Barra, 25, as he drove up
to a house hours after the shooting.

Barra was booked on charges of armed robbery and aggravated battery.
 Another suspect was being sought.

I think you mean, "Chivalry is still very much alive in England"

 chiv·al·ry

 n. pl. chiv·al·ries
The medieval system, principles, and customs of knighthood.

The qualities idealized by knighthood, such as bravery, courtesy, honor, and gallantry toward women.
A manifestation of any of these qualities.
A group of knights or gallant gentlemen.

When was the last time a doodle performed and act of chivalry for you ladies?
