Back in the good old days when I wanted to drink but was too young, we had to actually sneak it in. I had to practically shove an entire bottle of Jack Daniels up my ass and secure it with duct tape. Then, later, with my pants around my ankles, painfully pull the thing off of my body in a mens room stall while enduring the pain of hair loss as I removed the tape.  But damn, the reward afterwards was priceless.
It may be out of jealously, or it may just be the responsible/caring adult that I am, but it pisses me off to see some 18 year old kid celebrating with a beer at Merriweather.
And also, I'm not a fashion guy, but who wears cargo pants and a baseball hat to something as "evil" as a Slayer/Manson show?
Man, I never needed to drink bad enough to practically shove a bottle of Jack Daniels up my ass and secure it with duct tape.  And if I did, I probably would not be drinking from that bottle once I took it out.

well the most logical solution would be to legalise canibus and lower the drinking age for beer to 18 or 16 w/parent or guardian.

Oh god NO! NO Beer Gardens, please banish that thought from your head, pretty please.?

The current policy is fine, you haven't had any minors with alcohol related deaths or even maimings associated with going to a show at Merriweather so the currently policy functions well enough.

Excellent suggestion, except then you would complain about the 14 yr olds drinking.  ANd besides, it has about as much chance at reality in this country as us all doing shots from a bottle of Jack Daniels that PigIron just pulled out of his ass.

The only serious answer is to cut Merriweather's max attendance from 16000 to 8000 and hire 8000 staph'ers for each concert, so each and every attendee can have a personal staph member to follow them around and make sure they don't do drugs, drink underage, sneak into the pit, or use too much toilet paper in the bathroom. AND IF YOU GUYS DON'T DO THIS, YOU'RE IRRESPONSIBLE!!

If it weren't for underage drinking, Julian would never get laid.

If that were the case, I would go to every show at Merriweather.  While it would be a bummer to have some asshole as your Merriweather Buddy, it would be great if you got somebody who was a lot of fun, or maybe a really hot chick.  Either way. it would be a roll of the dice every time, which would increase the fun of the concert experience.

Other sheds do the wristband thing.  That seems to work ok.  It's a small inconvenience when you arrive, but if you have enough wristband stations, it's not bad.  You could still spot-check people that look too young to be wearing wristbands, but it would be very easy to spot people drinking without them.
