That whole Mac thing is a separatist movement.     ;)

Nah, but I have no issue with Bill.  Aside of my disdain for WMP, he's good with me.  Plus his corporate gangsta is to be revered.       Granted there's far more viruses out there for PCs.  But don't get it twisted, there's some potent ones for Macs as well.  Seen it happen to a couple of Steve enthusiasts such as B.

interesting - but one pays a premium for a mac.  wouldn't your show budget would be higher if you used a PC?

Full disclosure:  Stockholder since 1989, the company has been declared dead at least a half dozen times since then, but like the energizer bunny....so using a pc would not only NOT save me money it would betray a brand I've been faithful to for decades and has more than handsomely repaid that loyalty....in fact meet the boat: The Benicassim, that ipod built   <img src="http://homepage.mac.com/worldstagepub/.cv/worldstagepub/Sites/.Pictures/DSC00097/DSC00097.JPG-thumb_273_205.jpg" alt=" - " />

ive been using macs since 92/93. ive never had a virus and the only time i had an issue (with my titanium powerbook) i called apple, and they fixed it pronto. it was a failure with the design, and the laptop was coming apart. within a few days my mac was fixed. just recently upgraded to the powerbook (or whatever the new laptop is called) and i love it.

thinking i need an external harddrive - with all the music ive been d/l lately (legally - people!), can anyone suggest one?? if not, ill go stop in the apple store, and im sure ill pay the price, but for the amount of time ive had my computers, its so worth it.

ill never use a PC and only use them at work since i dont have a choice   :(

If your looking for a desktop drive that you'll keep stationary I'd go with a La Cie drives, good GB/$ ratio and multi inputs (FW400/FW800/USB2) on several models.

  La Cie

For a portable I'd with a Otherworld Computing "On The Go" drive, same methodology as the La Cie, but these are genuinely bus powered, at least on the latest Macbooks/Macbook Pros

  Other World Computing

For the La Cie be sure to check their clearance section, and buy direct for best value, there are a ton of resellers including Apple Stores (brick mortar/online) but you'll get the latest versions, best price, no sales tax, and cheaper shipping direct.

For otherworld, they build their own drives, and guarantee for five years, solid apple centric company.

my take: to to www.tigerdirect.com or www.newegg.com and scope out a deal there.  although i'm assuming that macs can access (and reformat if required) a regular hard drive, right?

i bought a USB-2 external drive off eBay some 3 years ago and am thrilled with it.  i've got everything, from music to pix to work files, backed up on in case my other computers crash.

I just bought a Seagate FreeAgent 500 GB external drive for $129 at Best Buy.  It was $40 cheaper than newegg.  If they have any left, it's the most GB per dollar that I have found.  Do not buy the Pro version as you pay for software that you likely won't use.

Yes mac can reformat and use any drive, I was just pointing out drives that could utilize the additional ports availabe on most macs, since most people are already overloading their USB2 ports, though hubs are available.

definitely, firewire is faster so folks should go for that if they have FW ports.

tell me about it.  can't wait for vegoose!

for those who continue to ask themselves what the deal is, please read  the LAists's review of the show.  it won't make you "get" daft punk, but hopefully it was convince you that there is something to get (and seeing the show is the only way to get it!).  a quote:

What followed was a performance that had the energy and emotion of a religious experience, not only living up to the hype, but shattering my concepts of how amazing a live performance by an electronic music act could be.

good audio on that one.

someone stitched together the  entire show here, 1:15.  audio isn't quite as good, though - but still decent.

So when the hell is this band coming back?  Ever since my friends went up for this show, I've been wishing I had gone with them rather than spend all of my money on V-Fest.
