i just heard . . .

on the jim breuer show on sirius, while he was interviewing david lee roth, he went into this debate about eddie vedder and how he talks so much during pearl jam live shows and how it's annoying (i guess because a lot of people accuse diamond dave of being such a motor mouth), and jim says "eddie (vedder) doesn't shut up, and that's why they're breaking up, because they're tired of hearing him."  is that true?  is pearl jam considering ending it, or did i mis-hear?  after i saw that eddie was hanging out with kid rock, i started to lose some of the faith.

having seen PJ twice in the past year(ish), i don't think eddy talks so much as to be annoying (i'm sure folks on the right think otherwise      :D    ).  he goes on occasional political and/or environmental tangents, but they're never more than 2 or 3 minutes long, and only once or twice a show.  although some folks might say that's already too much, it's not like he's doing a castro.  imagine that, an artist has an opinion and is taking advantage of his position to express it.  the horror.  can't we all go back to bubblegum pop?

that's doesn't mean PJ isn't breaking up, but if it is it would be for other reasons.  the other guys in the band are pretty political as well, and i've never heard of any other band member taking serious issue with eddy's rants.

The rest of the band questioned how much Ed was speaking out during the 2003 tour when people started booing during Bushleaguer.

The band has changed a lot since then and I believe they all feel it's important to speak out now. Just take a look at how many different causes each band member takes up.

I think the censorship during Lollapalooza will unite the band even further and people should expect even more comments during shows.

Holy shit, that's ironic because if you listen to some DLR-era VH bootlegs. Diamond Dave never shuts up. Not only that, he often talks in weird voices, like hoity-toity artistocratic accents, southern accents, english accents. That guy had a great coke connection.
