Gmail Invites
« on: December 20, 2004, 11:35:00 am »
Ten invites were dropped into my Gmail account this morning. If anyone wants one, send me a PM with an e-mail address and one will be on its way.

it's interesting, what Google is doing.  Everybody using their system, which is now millions of people, is linked to everyone else by these invites -- and if Google cares to do so, they could map out all these people and trace even seemingly anonymous accounts back to real people.

Which isn't different from any other company, say one's employer or an ISP for example, tracing a person's Internet usage.

no, it actually is different, because a company tracking your usage doesn't know how you link to millions of other people.

add that to Google's ability to track everything you've ever searched for, and it's really awe-inspiring!
