The Buzzcocks -- What A Great Show
« on: December 06, 2003, 11:35:00 am »
Why aren't all shows like last night's?   The vibe was so good.  Great to see mature fans in 30s and 40s rocking out big time.   I wish the other shows I go to have crowds like this (maybe with just a little less danger in the center of floor)
 So much fun.

Yep, I'm 36 and alomst everyone at the Yayhoos show at Iota last night was older than me. Wow, they rocked! And Dan Baird is as cool as they come for frontmen.

I agree Rich...I had a blast. The Chicago show was excellent as well. Here was last night's setlist:

 Boredom
 Fast Cars
 I Don't Mind
 Love Battery
 Autonomy
 Oh Shit
 Harmony in my Head
 Jerk
 Love You More
 Breakdown
 Something's Gone Wrong Again
 Sitting Round at Home
 Wake Up Call
 Driving You Insane
 Keep On
 Totally from the Heart
 Friends
 Lester Sands
 Noise Annoys
 I Believe
 ----------------------
Why She's a Girl from the Chainstore
 What Do I Get
 Orgasm Addict
 Ever Fallen in Love

I got a copy of the setlist, but I they switched it up...they might not have played one or 2 of those new songs...I know they took out "Mad Mad Judy". ALso, I see "Get On Our Own" on the setlist but can't remember if they played it. Anyway, it was a fun, fun evening.

It was a fun show. Getting really drunk before hand helped, a lot.

 I feel awful now though.

If you could rock out like that, if you wore evisu, hell that is probably the first time you have ever heard of evisu, right?

It was a lot of fun, have several bruises and injuries now.  The encore was amazing.  I also thought the Carlsonics were good, they stole a lot of their stage antics from GBV, which obviously is alright by me.  :p

your welcome, but Markie is not that old   :D

and thanks to all the people who got me off the floor the couple of time I went down, it was slippery as hell at the start

and if anybody knows what is with those pseudopunks with the matching jackets (DCMS on the back, or DC Menstrual Syndrome as I was yelling) do tell, they were complete assholes, I think they even claimed to be a gang or something, a punk gang in 2003, wow

I'm cool because I'm old...don't need no over-priced hipster clothes when you're as old as I am.

Dan Baird turns 50 this week and he had the stage moves of a 25 year old. Didn't do any of his Georgia Satellites hits though.

Where to begin....it was a fabulous, fabulous show.  I know it's better for the band and the club when the show sells out, but I loved the size of the crowd, and it was one of those rare occasions where the crowd just went wild.  The Buzzcocks kick ass completely and are still in top form.  And the Carlsonics did an excellent job of opening up for them....Pollard moves and all.

My special moments --  if you haven't heard yet, Steve Diggle blew me a kiss -- right to me, specifically, cuz I was sending that man SO much love.

After the show, I told Bob Mould, a bit drunkenly, that he's my hero.  Hope I didn't burn a bridge.....

And I met a handful of *lovely* board members.  God bless the Back Bar, no?  Lulu made fun, but the Amoeba shirt came in handy!

And to top it all off, we actually got a cab at 3:00 a.m. (or whatever the hell time it was) -- sometimes an impossible feat on a friday or saturday night.    ;)

Thanks to the 'Cocks and the crew for a great night!
