After digesting this for an evening I'm left with one question:

BOBFUCKINGSEGER?  No wonder Lydon doesn't want the Pistols in the hall.  Bob Seger is some of the worst vomit the music industry has ever spewed.  Now I don't really expect them to put folks like The Stooges in the hall.  They are just not that bright.  But Bob Seger?  What has he done for the world besides sell beer and pickup trucks?

Yet another shining example of why I have no faith or respect for these types of institutions.

 Too funny....Bob Seger...

Dude, Seger put Motown on the musical map.

Live Bullet introduced Bob Seger to a wide audience, revealing a rocker of unbridled passion and a songwriter of considerable talent. Prior to its release, Seger had been toiling away, releasing seven albums and touring constantly ever since his debut scraped the national consciousness in 1968. The psychedelicized days of Ramblin' Gamblin' Man are long gone on Live Bullet, leaving behind a rocker who loved the Stones for their toughness, Dylan for his honesty, and Chuck Berry for his narrative â?? and one who found his own sound when the Silver Bullet Band came into their own through countless tours. Live Bullet was recorded live at Detroit's Cobo Hall, in front of a passionate, loving hometown audience spurring him into a great performance. The song selection relies heavily on Beautiful Loser, yet it dips into the previous albums enough to prove that Seger had been delivering consistently as a songwriter for years. But what really sold Live Bullet is how these terrific songs are delivered with a ferocious, committed intensity. This might not be much more than a simple rock & roll album, but it's one of the best of its kind, establishing Seger, in the eyes of skeptics, as a first-rate performer and writer. Here, "Heavy Music," "Get Out of Denver," "Turn the Page," and "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man" all become hard rock classics, as does the band itself. It's a rare occasion when a double live album captures an artist at an absolute peak, while summarizing his talents, and that's exactly what Live Bullet does.

I agree, Bob Seger blows.  But he has sold 31.5 million records, which puts him into the top 50 all-time.

The criteria shouldn't just be sales, but it figures in pretty heavily, as the HoF wants to get people in the door.

There's another theory that was posted on another board.  The HoF is just brown-nosing the major labels to get display items, artist appearances, cross-promotion, etc....

 Jackson Browne -- Warner Bros.
 the Dells -- Universal
 George Harrison -- EMI
 Prince -- Warner Bros.
Bob Seger -- EMI -- new hits album out
 Traffic -- Universal
ZZ Top -- Warners has just/is about to release a boxed set

OK, so that's what UBL or Allmusic.com or whoever thinks about Bob Seger....and we all know what experts they are on rock 'n roll   ;)

Say it with me brothers and sisters!  Bob Seger sucks!  The rock and roll hall of fame sucks!

I like Mankie's nominations:  don't care, boring etc.

Why thanks. It took me awhile to catch on to how to use the copy and paste function like others on the board do, but now that I've figured it out, I'm going to start using it more often.

Now if I could just figure out how to post pics like some of y'all do!

This year's entries should be Van Halen and Prince.  End of story.

Among many reasons this is a bullshit museum is that Van Halen would not be considered for political reasons.  What a joke.

Lawyers in Love is a great song and everything, maybe one of the best ever (pause for laughter) but Jackson Browne is, um, arguably a stretch.

I actually like Segar.  Don't listen to him, but I'll watch a Segar video when it comes on VH1 classic.  Despite huge album sales I think he's underrated and just a notch below Springsteen.

Why isn't Gram Parsons already in? He's the most influential, though probably the worst selling.
