Rock and Roll Hotel Question
« on: November 05, 2008, 06:32:00 pm »
I'm supposed to go to a show at the RnR hotel this weekend and I was curious about parking. The website says parking is available on the surrounding streets and that the metro is 15 blocks away. I'm going with 4 other people so I don't want to have to take 2 cabs from the metro. So my question is, is parking easy to find/safe surrounding the venue?

 Thanks!

Don't they have a shuttle between Union Station and the venue?

Ive never had an issue finding a spot, even on a sold out night.  Drive around for a few minutes, and you should be fine.  As for safe, I have yet to feel unsafe going between my car and the venue.

I've been twice (Nicole Atkins and Ambulance LTD) and found parking immediately within a block of the venue about 30 minutes before the headliner hit the stage. The surrounding area isn't the best, but I didn't feel unsafe.

In all seriousness, yes some of the blocks close by aren't the greatest neighborhood but if you exercise some common sense you should be fine.

Thanks for answers everyone. Serpent Boy, Nicole Atkins is the show I'm seeing, I'm pretty excited.

And come on, I didn't need snarky answers lol. I'm not concerned about the walk, more about leaving my car in an area I'm unfamiliar with. I'm from Baltimore, so I think about these things when I go to an area I don't know.

There is plenty of parking and with the growth of the area there are police officers on bike and foot generally speaking between 12th and 14th st.  To ensure parking, I would not arrive any later than 30 minutes after doors.

You can get check for yourself, but violence in the Atlas District not even comparable to what you will find in Adam's Morgan and U St.

honestly, what is the point of posts like this?  they are not helpful in any way to a person genuinely looking for information.  they are not funny.  they are not witty.  they are not anything but a waste of your time to post them, and mine to call you out on it.  if you don't have a real answer to a post that is a straightforward request for information, don't reply.  this kind of pointless assholery is what keeps this place as insular and exclusionary as it is, and that's not the goal of this forum.
