So is anyone other than me going to see the Slickee Boys tonight?

I too want to know how the show went. I've had such a hectic week that I couldn't even think of working it in to my schedule.

It was a lot of fun - as always.  Iota was packed. Mark was gulping down Jim Beam all night.  Marshall's guitar is no longer covered in black/pink stripes.  Your basic Slickee Boys set, including some covers (Journey To The Center of Your Mind, Someone's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In, Are You Gonna Be There (at the Love-In), etc.)  I love watching Dan sing "Eighteen".  Going All The Way/Glendora, The Brain That Refused To Die, Here To Stay, Escalator 66, Dropping Off To Sleep, This Party Sucks....We were loving every second of it.  It looked like they were having a blast too.

My SO (who is really unfamiliar with the Slickee Boys) made the comment that even the really good  bands these days don't actually look like they're having any fun on stage, but the Slickees seemed like they were just  having a big ol' rock-and-roll party.

Great night.  Hope they do it again next year.

The only song they didn't do that I was hoping to hear was Jailbait Janet, I think they might have just forgotten to play it. Loved Mark's sailor suit though. You can always count on the Slickees for a good time.
Went to Switchblade on Saturday night, and they really ripped the roof off the joint. Mark Wenner from the Nighthawks blew some fine harp on a couple of songs, Bill Kirchen got up there and traded some licks with Eddie Angel, which was amazing, and Abaad from The Reactions & Razz tore it up on a couple of songs too. All in all it was a stellar weekend at Iota. I am already looking forward to the same thing next year!

I'm really sorry I missed them.   How were the Beatnik Flies?

The Flies were fun, it was good to see them again after so long. Saw 'em many a time at dc space.

It's just a shame that we have to wait until next year! A Summer retro gig would be lots and lots of fun. (Hint, hint, hint.   :D    :D    :D  )

Not sure that's really possible...I have been told many times that the Wanktones will never play again. Don't know the details, but there's some kind of bad feeling involved that precludes them from doing that band. Too bad, I loved 'em.  And as for the Slickees, Max lives in Cali and only makes it back to this coast for the holidays. I think it's all they can do to get together for one reunion a year.

Damn! Maybe we'll get lucky and Max will be able to take advantage of some more discounted airfares and find a nice reason to come back for another visit. There's always hoping and they've got the loyal fans.

That's a shame about The Wanktones. They always sounded so good and blew away so many other Rockabilly and Psychobilly performers.

Yeah, I knew about Max being in California.  It was just wishful thinking.  Never heard about the bad blood with the Wanktones though.  That's too bad.
