Slickee Boys
« on: December 09, 2003, 12:36:00 pm »
It appears the Slickees have decided to return for their annual reunion gig:  12/26 at Iota.

Their reunions usually consist of 2 shows - one in DC and one in Baltimore.  Anybody know anything about a Baltimore gig?

The Beatnik Flies and Switchblade are also doing a reunion gig at Iota on 12/27.

Holy crap!  I had given up on that.  You can get "Uh-Oh...No Breaks" too!

 Thanks for the tip!

Sweet!  Will be getting it too.  Only had a live cassette tape that I found years back.  Now can have their classic.

I picked up both.  I've had a Napster'd version of "Cybernetic..." for a couple of years, but it sucks.   I had a hard time finding any of the "Uh-Oh" tracks, even on Napster and Kazaa.  I can't wait to get these.

I've heard there's a bit of debate over who opened for who.  I like to think that U2 opened.  How cool would that be?

FYI - I've been told there is no Baltimore gig this time around.  Only the one show at Iota.

I used to be in a band called Date Bait with Kim Kane, and he told me that U2 opened for the Slickies.  So, I suppose he is telling the truth.  But, it's hard to trust skinny people.

Shoddy, which instrument did you play in Date Bait?  I loved that band.  And are you "Shoddy" on inDC?

I saw the Slickee Boys open for the Kinks at Constitution Hall in 1984... there were a bunch of new wave chicks in mini-skirts dancing to them in the front rows, but unfortunately most of the crowd were Lawnguyland/Newjerseyans from GW, and all they could think about was that they wanted to hear the Kinks.

I heard it from my English teacher, who, coincidentally, is married to the Slickee's former manager.

He was also in Tiny Desk Unit (as featured on the 930 â?? Live record).

This should be a good show and a fun night as always with the Slickee Boys. Would be nice to have Switchblade open for them. Better yet, The Wanktones/Switchblade/The Slickees.

This would be a great night for the older forum DC area residents/members to introduce the newer and younger ones to some great old DC entertainment. Let them see what they were missing all those years ago.   :D
