Terrastock update
« on: May 06, 2008, 12:01:00 pm »
This is straight off the Terrastock site.

Tragically, due to a bereavement the Bevis Frond have
 had to drop out
of this year's Terrastock festival. We're very sorry
 about this and I'm
sure you will join us in passing along our sincere
 condolences and best
wishes to Nick Saloman and his family. Terrascope
 Audio Entertainments
are hoping to be able to put on a separate Bevis Frond
 show later in
the year to help make up in some small way for this
 huge
 disappointment.

Huge bummer.  :(

Still the best festival lineup of the summer by far, though.

Nick's mom passed. I hope he can pull together getting the band stateside once he feels up to it.

Nice...heard about that happening last night. He sat in with a few more bands, too.

Kohoutek also went over really well.

He sat in with Tanakh as well on Friday who I thought were really good with the group he pulled together.  He also sat in with Bardo Pond.

I think Bardo Pond may have been one. Most everyone I've spoken to that went have mentioned that they were quite impressed with Bardo Pond's set. I got a good laugh out of this recap from a friend of mine:

"Mother F*ckin' Bardo Pond was Earth Shattering!!!

 Created the Big Boom!!!

 Discovered fire!!

 Invented the wheel!!

 Crucified and reserected Jesus Christ!!!

 F*ckin' parted the Red Sea!!

Invented radio TV and the internet.

 Good f*ckin' God!!!

It will take at least as long for me to get over that set as it has
taken me to get over eating 2 tabs and listening to Hawkwind
"Warrior on the Edge of Time"  in 1979. I'm still not over
Hawkwind "Warrior on the Edge of Time". So, its gonna be a while.

 Man oh man!!!"

Did anybody on here catch that set?

What was your take on his short stint with Bardo Pond?

During Bardo Pond I was sitting on a hill above the stage enjoying a spliff and the monster racket they were creating.  I will say that my ears are still recovering from Kawabata's last jam to close out the festival on Sunday night.  That was loud.

Sounds like a great time was had by all. I also heard that there may not be one next year. Hopefully we can get Nick and the Bevis Frond over here somehow regardless, once he's ready to get on with things. It was a shame as to his circumstances as I'm sure he would've loved to have been there. Without him, I had to opt out but it sounds as though I missed a good one!

Nice! I still feel bad for Nick though. The Terrastock crowd gvies him his deserved props and gets him over here, which is a chore in itself. Glad to see you guys get the nod. Had to be way cool a treat for you as well as the fans.
