indie rock karaoke
« on: March 09, 2005, 01:00:00 pm »
ok, so i know it was discussed elsewhere, so kill me for starting a new thread for it.  i'm having a crappy day anyway.

on that light note... i'm headed to dc9 tonight to sing me some bauhaus or something... who else?

and, why is there a cover for a karaoke?  that seems odd to me.  while $5 won't break the bank, it's still less than normal.

I didn't know about that, perhaps I'll pop by for something different.  Maybe I can sing "Bittersweet Symphony" and pretend I'm Richard Ashcroft.

As for the $5, the world of small clubs in DC is one of a never-ending brutally darwinian struggle for survival.  So $5 is not a lot to cough up to keep a cool place going.

 i've been practicing.

i'd go, but i need to watch the big east tournament tonight ... georgetown has been slumping hard, and this will probably be their last game of the season

Must suck to be from a school whose "turn around" season may not even get them into the tournament...
me, i'm looking forward to some nachos and pitchers of cheap beer with my alumni association starting next weekend... i support the badgers mostly for the beer and nachos, honestly.

oooh, let me know if they bring out the fried cheese curds.

my college basketball team is trying to turn the program around. i mean, after all, it isn't every program that has deal with a player murdering another player and having the coach use the murder to try to cover his own ncaa violations.

hah!

georgetown was predicted to go 4-12 in the Big East this year, and that, frankly, was generous ... we start 3 freshmen (including 1 freshman walk-on), none of whom were highly recruited ... our depth has been decimated the last few years by transfers and we have a brand new coach (john thompson III) whose style takes a while to learn

we were 8-3 at one point in the Big East ... this is unbelievable, honestly ... a five game losing streak brought us back down to 8-8, but its still light years ahead of where i expected us to be at this point.

one of our freshmen, jeff green, will be frosh of the year in the big east ... he'll beat uconn's rudy gay, who was widely expected to jump right to the NBA out of high school, and probably will make the jump this offseason

we have a young team, a new coach with top-notch pedigree, a couple of highly rated recruits for next year, and we're on the right path ... next year will only be better, which we haven't been able to say for years and years

so yeah, in light of all of that, it really sucks to be a georgetown basketball fan ... just really, really, really sucks, thanks for rubbing my face in all this failure.

well, whatever you sing, please come say hi to me-- i don't think i've met anyone who's coming tonight before (then again, i don't really *remember* the people I met at the last few forum shindigs, I had such a good time).

i have short blonde hair and glasses and will be with a baldy.
