Pogues 3/16 & 3/17
« on: November 19, 2008, 08:51:00 pm »
Pollstar has announced Pogues at
 9:30 on 3/16 and 3/17.

What do ya'll think? Are they 'milking it' at this point? I mean this is the third tour, with no new album. On the other hand, I'm glad they din't go the Rolling Stones route- release a shitty CD so you have a 'reason' to tour.

Will I be there? Well, I would. But my wife is due to deliver our first baby the first week of March. Maybe I can talk her into naming our kid Spider? yeah, probably not.

I, for one, am shocked that the Pogues would do an East Coast tour around St. Patrick's day.

Seriously, when is the last time they did this?

Tickets are going on-sale for this later today it seems at the pogues site.

The St. Patty's show is shown there as an early show (3pm doors?).

Anyone have any confirmation of that?  It seems really odd.

Why are you guys complaining about a Pogues tour?  If you're not into it, don't fucking go!

The 3:00 PM show for St. Patrick's Day does seem very odd.

Maybe thats the way people celebrate in Ireland?

Or maybe Shane wanted to clear the evening to concentrate on the festivities without having to hold back...inversely maybe the band figures an early start has more hope of a somewhat sober Shane?

How cool is it that Seth lured them to DC for St Patricks Day? Usually they go to Boston or NYC....

Yes - but it is a Tuesday.  Are people going to take off work to see the Pogues in the middle of the afternoon?

On St. Patrick's Day?  Yeah.  No doubt.

Maybe I should rephrase - is it WORTH taking the day off work to see the Pogues in the middle of the day on St. Patrick's Day?

You aren't really celebrating St. Patrick's Day unless you are drinking all day.

Date has been updated - 7:00 PM, not 3:00 PM.  Makes a lot more sense now.
