God is an Astronaut @ Ottobar
« on: February 01, 2008, 12:58:00 am »
as posted in just announced:

 Tuesday March 18th
God is an Astronaut, Scale the Summit and guests
Doors open at 8pm/Show at 9pm- ALL AGES
TICKETS ON SALE FRIDAY FEBRUARY 1ST!

pix from concert two weeks ago
 GIAA live videos: 1  2

their live shows are incredible - great visuals set to beautiful music.  i'm pretty damn excited about this one... anyone else?

no DC date as far as i can tell, so it's off to baltimore to catch as catch can.  i don't have a car here in DC - anybody planning on trekking up to baltimore for this, and would be willing to give me a ride?  i'd be happy to pay for gas and/or your ticket.  alternately we could also split a rental.  thanks!

Update:

Pittsburg is the pitts as they've cancelled out their show on God. (Will they be struck by lightning now?)

Maybe Magicman Snail can pull some mojo out of his little bag of tricks for DC but it's going to be a tough squeeze. I'm crossing my fingers for you. (I did put in a good word for you.)

Baltimore is a sure thing so don't trash your roadtrip plans just in case that's it for this tour. They don't have the money and time to extend things any further at this point.

I'd offer some rides except my travel route to the venue is southerly. Hopefully, I'll get to meet all of you at the show! I'll be there with wings on.   :D

Seth, you really need to eventually book this band at the club. They would be a great addition to the VFest too. Please, Seth.

They were a huge hit at Langerado last year from what I read/heard.

They are a huge hit everywhere they play!

I helped to promote their appearance at some big Peace festival in Turkey last summer and they totally won everyone over. (Man, do they have some very cool people over there!!!)

All of Portugal is crazy about them and I think may be their biggest fan base. They do well in London too. Actually all of Europe is picking up on the love for God.

Come on, US. Get a clue.

I would absolutely love to see them one night on the 9:30 stage.

The ottobar tends to run so fucking late sometimes.

Hopefully this won't be one of them.

dunno if amtrak'ing it back will be possible - last train from b'more penn station is 11:35 pm, would mean leaving ottobar 11:10 or 11:15... show starts at 9:00 (if on time), and there are two announced openers and one TBA.  doesn't look doable.

edit: just had a look at the PDF of my tickets: "TICKET HOLDERS UNDER 21 YEARS OF AGE MAY BE SUBJECT TO PAYING A $1 SURCHARGE AT THE DOOR."  interesting, never heard of that.  guess they're trying to recoup lost alcohol revenue and increased security cost.  cue up you be betty...
