Election Prediction Thread
« on: November 06, 2006, 11:41:00 am »
House:  Dems gain 13 seats (republicans hold)
Senate:  Dems gain 4 seats (republicans hold)

i'm an eternal pessimist, but i think there's something to be said for laying low and staying out of power for the next two years ... WHOEVER is in power is going to have some serious fucking problems to take on, and either party isn't going to get shit done, might as well be on the outside for a bit longer ... and it will help the dems in 08 to still be out of power

the only problem is that there's been so much hype about a democratic takeover that a loss would be devastating psychologicially

Locally:

 O'Malley  wins
 Cardin wins
 Allen wins

I don't see the status quo going away around here just yet, unfortunately.

I predict Adrian Fenty will win the Washington DC mayoral race! I'll vote for him anyway. And I'm voting for Marc Borbely in the DC Ward 5 & 6 school board race.

I don't know if Webb will beat Allen, probably not, but I really want him to so I'm going to call the race for him.

 Democrats will take the House.
 Republicans will keep the Senate.
Democrats will win majority of Governorships

Joe, looks like you're on track to have your wish fulfilled: at 1:50 AM, with 99% of precincts reporting, Webb has 1,143,756 (50%) while Allen has 1,141,030 (49%).  unless that missing 1% is completely Allen votes, he's out of a job.

in less satisfactory news, Ban Same-Sex Marriage:
 Yes 1,300,884 (57%)
 No 972,640 (43%)
 with 99% of precincts reporting
really, who cares?  VA residents, you're forgiven for getting rid of Allen... but really, "defending marriage"?!?

sweetcell, I still can't believe it's a close race. Still hard to believe there are a million morons in VA who voted for Allen. Yeah, stupid morons...marriage is so overrated, and gay people are more well rounded than these one million+ breeders and Bible-loving fuckwits.
Take it up the ass sometime and you'll be liberated.

ya know, that's the crazy thing about VA... it's a state of extremes.  before i moved to DC, i thought that VA was a backward state comprised of tobacco-growing, gun-toting, republican-voting hicks.  once here, i got the impression that VA is all educated upper-middle-class DC suburbs.  apparently the truth is somewhere in between - to the tune of 50% vs. 49% this time.

I was on CNN like a hawk last night until I turned over and fell asleep during the commercials around 10something.

AND NOW I'M FRANTICALLY CLICKING to find out what the hell happened after I went to sleep.

I guess they aren't done tallying yet, but it seems as though the Dem's have definitely gotten hold of the House.  And Allen has lost.  Jesus saves.

But I STILL don't know what's up in the Senate.

And the thing in Rhode Island was INSANE...not sure if that's gonna be good or bad yet...

Who really gives a flying donut about the election?

I predict it won't make the slightest difference in anything.  Will the US suddenly become a less corrupt nation?

 I don't think so.
