used cd stores in NoVA/DC

What used cd store do you recommend me trying to sell cd's to? I have a number to choose from and I'd like to sell as many as I can at one place. Oh.. and who coughs up the most green?

sell em on ebay, used cd places only give you $1-$2 for a cd. pawn shop will give even less.

i got like $800 selling 60 or 70 bunk cds on ebay awhile back.

I tried to sell about 50 used CD's to the CD Cellar in Falls Church, ranging from scratched to pristine, and crap to classics. After a few minutes they came back and said they didn't want any of them, either they didn't need them or they were too badly scratched. I said, ok, well you can just have them for free and put them in your 50 cent bin if you want then, and they said no thanks.

CDepot in College Park sometimes gives decent amounts but they've become pickier than they were in the past. Used CD shops are heavily networked; they buy and trade amongst themselves as well as with the public. Subsequently, they all know what's scarce and what gluts exist. And the problem will probably get worse as young folk increasingly download and eskew the round shiny things.

Traveling Wilburys CDs were very hard to find for a while, going for well over $30-40 each.  I think it's calmed down a bit though.  Maybe there was a reissue or something.

I bought my pristine copy of the rare and out of print first disc by the Screaming Blue Messiahs entitled "Gun Shy" at cd cellar in Falls Church for $7.99 about 3 years ago. Somebody didn't know how to price. I was offered 45 bucks for it a week later and recently turned down 90 bucks from a guy online.

I've had some good luck there as well, especially in the clearance bins.  No jackpots, but a lot of albums that they could have sold at full price.

I miss Record Convergence. They had better prices and the guy who owned it was cool.

Hmm, I've got that one. And... it's autographed by Bill Carter.

Three-figure bids and up only   :p

Really,  Rhino Handmade should consider those guys.

I work at record and tape exchange in fairfax. for cds that we want in our store that aren't scratched, we usually pay $3 or give $4.50 in store credit- though we give more for collectable and out of print discs. we always check half.com when we're buying dvds or cds to make sure we aren't over or underpaying the customer. rtx is a good place and worthy of checking out if you haven't before.
 the number's 703-425-4256.

if you end up with a bunch of shitty scratched up cds no one will buy from you, you should try selling  them to gamespot or ebgames or one of those games stores. they're just starting to buy up cds and will take anything with a barcode, most the time giving you at least $0.75 apiece. and they don't check condition. good times.
