Wolftrap Parking
« on: July 30, 2006, 08:42:00 pm »
So I'm headed there for the first time tomorrow, but the tickets state that parking is limited.  Metro doesn't seem to be much of an option.

For the experienced Wolftrap goers here, is there really a parking problem?  How early do we need to get there to be safe?  How long do we have to get there before we really start pushing our luck?

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

Going to see Fiona?  Parking at WT is plentiful, but I recommend getting there fairly early.  If you've got lawn seats, they let you into the venue at 6:30 and then it's a mad dash for a good lawn spot.  Great thing about the lawn at WT is that you can bring in coolers (wine/beer), snacks, all that stuff, so you don't have to pay out the nose for the food/drinks they offer there.  If you have seats inside the building, they let you in at 7:30 and no you can't bring any drinks/food in there.  Keep in mind that there are no vid screens so bring binocs if you want to see the performer close-up.  The departure from the venue is the usual clusterfuck but it's not like Nissan; it doesn't take 2 hours .. maybe 20 minutes.

Okay, quick follow up then?  What is "fairly early" given that the opener is at 8?  It may not look like it, but I'm at work right now and I already know we'll have to dash to Wolftrap after work.

Thanks, I'm just a Marylander and venture to DC quite a bit, but not Virginia so much.

when i worked there, i would tell people that as long as you get there before the opener, you should be fine with parking...any later and you will have to park in the neighborhoods, which angers the neighbors...but that all depends on
the show too - if its sold out, and its a big party crowd, people may show up later to chill on the lawn, and therefore, parking my fill up faster

to be safe tho, i would show up around 7:30..it'll take 10 minutes to haul yourself up that hill/wait for a golf cart to drive you up

Well thanks to all for the advice, I'm pretty sure we got one of the last spaces just before 7:30.  As soon as I pulled into one lot, they blocked it off for the next car.

 Great, great show as well.

There were tons of spaces left when we got there at 9. There's a huge field they opened up.
