Lykke Li

Anybody listen to her album "Youth Novels?"

I'm seeing this all over Best of 2008 lists, and it's one of the only discs I see that I haven't heard a note of... any good?  Who do you compare her to?

I'd compare her to Annie. Dance music the indie kids like, and the critics have respect for, for some reason.

Can't get into her. Like the girl from CSS, her voice just rubs me the wrong way.

Still, she's a better listen than anything Bono has done in the last 15+ years.

Interesting cross-pollination.

See, Marnie Stern's voice doesn't bother me at all but I'm well aware that it'd make most people cringe.

It's the music, not her voice, that bothers people...

I wouldn't mind seeing her in a print ad for dish soap. But beyond that, no thanks.

she does shred. I'm into Marnie, don't worry. I'm just saying that people will generally get turned off by the music, not her vocals  ::)

Ani DiFranco presale tomorrow, relaxer...
