I'd drop Yoshimi and instead place Priest Driven Ambulance.  Man, that's a killer record.

There should also really be a Felt album or two on this list, I'm just not that familiar with the groups catalog to make a suggestion.

If you look above, you will see that I already listed Felt. Did not list any particular albums for anyone though. Not up for being that particular. Have fun exploring.

pretty much every felt album is essential. the "absolute classic masterpieces" comps are good places to start, though. "strange idols pattern," "ignite the seven cannons" and "forever breathes the lonely word" after that.

there are at least a dozen fall albums that should be on here. pretty much everything up through "the frenz experiment" in 1988.

the field mice two-disc comp "where'd you learn to kiss that way?" is a twee pop classic. same with the flatmates "love and death." not quite as twee.

nkotb is right about the lips. forget "yoshimi," add "priest" and also "clouds taste metallic" and "hit to death in the future head."

"sin city" by flying burrito brothers should cover you there since it has everything from their first two albums.

and the first three funkadelic albums are absolutely essential.

franz ferdinand - s/t and "you could have it so much better"
the foals - "antidotes"
the faint - not sure which album belongs in an "essentials collection", i'd go with "wet from birth" or "faciinatiion" but that's because i know them best.

The Faint - Danse Macabre (definitely would be the one that I pick)
Faithless - No Roots

I think you guys are totally forgetting about Lefty Frizell and Flatt and Scruggs.
