Advice on getting to Merriweather
« on: May 10, 2009, 11:22:49 am »
SO, I'm going to Merriweather for the first time to see Leonard Cohen, any advice or tips on getting there from NoVA? About how much time should I allow in order not to miss any music?

If you take 95 to 175 to the mall, that route is usually never effected by show traffic. And 175 takes you to the Columbia mall, where you can park and walk across to the show.

Sorry to hijack your thread!

Killsaly, do you recommend parking at the mall instead of at Merriweather?

Also, I'm driving to Merriweather from College Park; I plan on leaving around 5pm and I figure it will take about an hour to get there with traffic, does that sound about right?

Definitely the mall.  The mall lot is minutes from the venue, is never full, and is easy to get out of after the show.

the Mall is always a better bet for parking, but i dont expect attendance to be that high tomorrow, so you will probably be fine either way. but yes, 95 to 175 is the best route to go.

This is a really stupid question, but can I bring a backpack in?

The website doesn't say anything about it, so I'm assuming I can.

Good question. I take it you're going to do homework there while waiting for the show to start? Just kidding. I'm right now trying to get through a paper that's due tomorrow, so I don't have to worry about it while at the show.
