speaking of... RFK Jr's strategy for dealing with the opioid crisis: legalize weed federally, tax it, and use the proceeds to fund "wellness farms" - rural clinics/retreats where addicts can get treatment, counseling, attend 12-step meetings, commune with nature, work with their hands, get away from their old life, etc.
first, i'm not sure that system works for everyone. not every addict is going to want to leave their communities, families, etc to go isolate with cows on a ranch. second, even if every addict wanting treatment was interested in this approach to recovery, i doubt it would scale sufficiently to meet the enormity of the problem.
rfk jr is in recovery for heroin and alcohol. apparently RFK jr still attends up to nine 12-step meetings a week. sounds like an addiction...
