WOW, if I had known that.....
Kidding.  Same thing happened to me -- I showed up at Jag's birthday and was inundated with CDs, some from folks I hadn't even met yet (yeah, you Brennser).  Very cool group of music lovers -- Kurosawa remembered I loved Idlewild (and was a new fan!).

Now, if I only had music y'all didn't!     ;)     At least I can keep giving Markie stuff he'll hate.

Ear plugs!  Personally, I think there's nothing wrong with wanting to preserve your hearing.  Music doesn't have to be that loud to be appreciated. [/b]
There's no reason for bands to play so loud you need earplugs, unless your band is so shite you're trying to compensate for it with distortion of course.

I know I'll get the "old man" comments, but I've never understood why they have to have it so loud. One of the many things great about the 930 is they don't go overboard with the volume in my experience......unlke Nation.

it is fun getting CDs from people on the board - I've been aurally overwhelmed since I started swapping stuff with people, and then you have generous people like Grotty hooking me up with Drive by Truckers and Chris Whitley stuff and I've never even met him

sorry I missed BSP last night - shamefully I had a ticket but I'm still getting over a bad cough/cold and didn't think a few hours of inhaling second-hand smoke would do me any good....

So then how does the exchange occur?  Do you have a go-between?

It was a good show, sorry you missed it, but there will no doubt be more.  Much of the baordie crew were right up at the stage; not my milieu (unless the crowd is quite thin, and the speakers aren't *that* loud...)

Ha, so old school!     ;)
That means you gave your address, your HOME address, out to someone on the board!?  Whoa...

Agreed.  They made me want to eat my young!

The irony of the fact that the most discernible lyrics of their set consisted of "Shoot, shoot, shoot -- don't you want to kill me?" was certainly not lost on me.

BSP were great although a bit less animated (but louder) than when I saw them last November.

now to add in my thoughts...
first off lovely to see some of the old boarders again (lulu, markie, ggw), and to meet bungle (thanks again for the setlist, i'll buy you a drink at the delgados!)
kurosawa was right, the show wasn't the most energetic i've seen them. probably the least emphatic of the three times i've been lucky enough to see them. but they're wonderful and pretty and we have a love of foliage in common, so a girl really can't complain too much.
oh, and earplugs are oh so helpful in keeping one's hearing whilst standing in the front row. i highly recommend them.
so who's going to see what shows next?   :p

wow, there were a lot of folks at this show!

I'm definitely going to Decemberists next Tuesday, Broken Social Scene Thursday and Delgados the following Tuesday (and Washington Social Club that Friday, April 2).  I'm hitting all these shows in time for the openers, so maybe I'll get some chat time in.

I'm hitting all of these, minus Delgados.  I tried to buy WSC tickets at the club the other night, but was told they weren't in the system.  hrmph.
